From Resistance to Revelation: Stepping Into the Power I’ve Been Hiding

I’ve been hiding something. And it hasn’t been intentional. It’s more like a secret that only my subconscious gets to play with, occasionally letting me peek inside. I know deep down that I should nourish it, give it attention, let it grow and take up space. Yet, no matter how often I catch a glimpse of this thing, it always slips away again, back into inaction.

It’s like I’m resisting stepping into this magic.

This thing I’m talking about? It’s not something physical or tangible. It’s not a project or a task that I can tick off a list. It’s a part of me, an energy, a gift that keeps asking for room to breathe, to come into the light. But every time I start to move toward it, I stop.

Maybe you’ve felt it too—the resistance. That inexplicable pushback when you know you’re on the edge of something incredible, yet you hold yourself back. Maybe it's fear, maybe it's doubt, maybe it's just the comfort of staying where I’ve always been.

For me, it’s been a quiet knowing that I have so much more to offer. More creativity, more flow, more impact. And every time I sit with that truth, I feel this mixture of excitement and terror. What if stepping into it changes everything? What if this hidden magic is the key to unlocking a whole new version of myself, my work, my life?

But what if I fail? What if I stumble trying to hold space for this thing that feels so big, so me, and yet so unknown?

Lately, though, I’ve realized that this resistance isn't there to stop me. It’s there to guide me. It’s a reminder that what I’m holding onto isn’t small—it’s important. It's powerful. And it's meant to change things.

It’s easy to stay small. To stay in what’s familiar. But growth happens when we push through the resistance, when we choose to give that hidden magic the space it’s been asking for. And right now, I’m choosing to step into it, even though it’s uncomfortable. Even though I don’t have all the answers.

I’m sharing this because maybe you, too, are holding back something powerful within yourself. Maybe you’ve been hiding it, not out of fear, but out of the comfort of inaction. And maybe it’s time for both of us to step into our magic, to embrace what’s been calling us all along.

So, here’s my commitment to myself—and to you. I’m going to stop hiding. I’m going to let this thing grow, nurture it, and see where it leads me.

Unveiling the hidden parts of ourselves can be a powerful, yet daunting journey. To stop hiding your magic and truly reveal it, here are a few steps that might help you step into this process with intention and clarity:

1. Acknowledge What You’re Hiding

Start by getting clear on exactly what this "thing" is. Is it a talent, a desire, an idea, or a new way of being? Journaling about it can help you bring it from the subconscious to the conscious. Ask yourself questions like:

  • What am I afraid to reveal?

  • Why does this feel so big or vulnerable?

  • What would it look like if I let this part of me fully show up in my life and work?

The more clarity you have about what you’re hiding, the easier it becomes to stop pushing it down.

2. Face the Fear

Often, we hide things because of fear—fear of judgment, failure, or even success. Once you acknowledge the fear, give it space to breathe. Ask yourself:

  • What’s the worst thing that could happen if I reveal this?

  • What’s the best thing that could happen?

Chances are, the best-case scenario far outweighs the worst, but facing both outcomes gives you perspective.

3. Take Small, Aligned Steps

Instead of feeling like you have to unveil everything all at once, take small, aligned actions. If your hidden magic involves creativity or a new direction in your work, experiment with small ways to express it:

  • Share a piece of your idea with a trusted friend or colleague.

  • Create something just for you, without the pressure of showing it to the world yet.

  • Incorporate a bit of this "magic" into your daily routine.

These small steps help you build confidence and trust in yourself as you gradually reveal more.

4. Create a Supportive Environment

Surround yourself with people who believe in your magic and encourage you to share it. Whether it's friends, mentors, or a community, having supportive people in your corner will help you stay accountable and inspired.

5. Set Boundaries with Resistance

Understand that resistance will come up, and it’s natural. But instead of letting it paralyze you, create boundaries around it. When you feel resistance creeping in, pause and remind yourself that resistance is often a sign of growth. Then, keep moving forward despite it.

6. Commit to a Daily Practice

Commit to a practice that brings you closer to revealing your magic. This could be:

  • Creative work: Set aside time daily to engage in the practice of revealing what you’re hiding, whether through writing, art, or other forms.

  • Mindset work: Spend time each day in meditation, visualization, or affirmations that reinforce the belief that this magic deserves to be seen.

  • Action: Dedicate even just 10 minutes a day to take steps toward unveiling this part of yourself.

7. Celebrate Small Wins

Don’t wait until you’ve fully revealed your magic to celebrate. Every small step forward is a win. Recognize the moments when you allow yourself to be vulnerable, when you take action, or when you notice a shift in your thinking. Celebrating these small wins builds momentum.

8. Embrace the Process

Revealing something that’s been hidden isn’t a one-time event. It’s a process that unfolds over time. Give yourself grace as you move through it, and trust that as you stay open to revealing this part of yourself, it will grow stronger, and eventually, it will become second nature.

By consistently applying these practices, you'll be better equipped to stop hiding and fully step into the magic that’s been calling you. What resonates most with you, and is there a specific area you want to focus on first?
